    The Performance Testing of EPON Optical Network

    Import 05/08/2014Diplomová práca sa zaoberá problematikou pasívnych optických prístupových sietí, konkrétne výkonnostným testovaním štandardu EPON. V prvom rade sú rozobrané optické prístupové siete, ich rozdelenie, technológie a popis jednotlivých súčastí. Ďalšia časť popisuje služby Triple Play a spôsoby, ktorými sú tieto služby hodnotené, teda objektívne a subjektívne hodnotiace metódy. Práca pokračuje praktickou časťou, ktorá je tvorená súborom meraní na zostavenej topológií. Overuje sa integrita siete a nasadenie Triple Play služieb na základe štandardov RFC 2544 a ITU Y.1564 EtherSAM. Súčasťou praktickej časti je tiež reálne nasadenie Triple Play služieb a ich objektívne hodnotenie prostredníctvom dostupných prístrojov a príslušného softvéru (MSU Video Quality Measurement Tool, IxChariot, BWMeter, EXFO AXS-200-625). Namerané výsledky sú následne uvedené do tabuliek a zobrazené v grafoch.This diploma thesis addresses the issue of passive optical access networks, especially performance testing of EPON standard. In the first case are discussed optical access networks, their division, technologies and description of corresponding components. Next part describes Triple Play services and ways, which this services are rated with. That means objective and subjective valuation methods. Thesis continues with practical part, which contains of measurements provided on compiled topology. Integrity of the network and deployment of the Triple Play services are verified by RFC 2544 and ITU Y.1564 EtherSAM testing standards. The component of practical part is also real application of Triple Play services and their objective evaluation by available devices and facility software (MSU Video Quality Measurement Tool, IxChariot, BWMeter, EXFO AXS-200/650).     Import 03/08/2012Bakalárska práca sa zaoberá optickými prístupovými sieťami, s hlavným zameraním na siete s vlnovým multiplexom, tiež na siete novej generácie a ich implementáciu na existujúcu optickú prístupovú infraštruktúru. Prácu tvorí niekoľko základných tematických častí. V úvode sú spomenuté očakávané trendy v budúcnosti, týkajúce sa požiadaviek na kapacitu a možnosti prístupových sietí. Druhá kapitola popisuje základné celky a usporiadanie optických prístupových sietí z hľadiska systému FTTx. Tretia kapitola približuje základné rozdelenie optických prístupových sietí. Nasledujúca kapitola sa zaoberá spôsobmi šírenia optického signálu a najpoužívanejšími topológiami, ako sú P2P a P2MP. Najvyužívanejšie štandardy optických prístupových sietí prináša piata časť. V predposlednej kapitole sú poskytnuté vyhliadky pre siete novej generácie a ich jednotlivé typy. Záverečný bod tvorí praktická časť, tvorená experimentálnymi meraniami a ich výsledkami, ktorých obsahom je testovanie siete WDM-PON a jej implementácie na existujúcu sieť GE-PON.This bachelor thesis deals with optical access networks, with a focus on networks with wavelength division multiplexing, also the next generation networks and their implementation on existing optical access infrastructure. The work consists of several basic parts. At the beginning of the thesis are mentioned expected future trends, relating to capacity requirements and possibilities of access networks. The second chapter describes the basic units and the arrangement of optical access networks in terms of FTTx. The third chapter explains the basic division of optical access networks. The next chapter looks at ways of spreading the optical signal and the most commonly used topologies, such as P2P and P2MP. Mostly used standards for optical access networks brings the fifth part. In the penultimate chapter is given the prospects for next generation networks and their various types. The final point is the practical part, consisting of experimental measurements and results that contain the testing of WDM-PON and its implementation on the existing GE PON network.440 - Katedra telekomunikační technikyvelmi dobř

    Mnoho společností dnes musí čelit vylepšování podnikových procesů, neustálému odstraňování systémových překážek a identifikaci úzkých míst v systému, které bráni efektivnímu dosahování stanovených cílů. V této diplomové práci popíšu, jak jsme se v společnosti s podobnými problémy vypořádali, v našem případě v oddělení správy a podpory webových aplikací pro jednoho mezinárodního klienta. V první kapitole představím základní informace o historii, prostředí, v kterém pracujeme, dále jednotlivé aktivity, které jsou každodenní součástí zmíněného procesu. Následně popíšu všechny překážky a úzká místa systému identifikovaná v původním procesu a návrh řešení a vylepšení pro jejich efektivní odstranění. V poslední kapitole shrnu dosažené výsledky po průběžné implementaci navržených vylepšení, zda byla plánovaná očekávání naplněna a jaký pozitivní nebo negativní vliv dané změny přinesly.Many companies today have to deal with business processes optimization, ongoing removal of system obstacles and identifying any bottlenecks laying on the way which are preventing us to reach our goals.     Touto bakalárskou prácou chcem poukázať na veľmi používaný nástroj v súvislosti so zostavovaním projektov v Jave v komerčnom alebo nekomerčnom prostredí. Prvá časť je zameraná na nástroj Maven, ktorý je používaný pre desktopové alebo webové projekty. Mojím hlavným cieľom je predstaviť jeho účel, princíp fungovania a rolu ktorú predstavuje pri celom životnom cykle zostavovaní daného projektu. K tomu patrí aj popis jeho výhod a nevýhod použitia a v prípade použitia, namodelovanie jeho komunikácie so vzdialenými Maven úložiskami bez a s implementovaným manažérom úložísk. V druhej časti sa budem zaoberať popisom najznámejších manažérov Maven úložísk, konkrétne Apache Archiva, Sonatype Nexus, JFrog Artifactory a uvediem ich funkčné možnosti. Týchto manažérov sa budem snažiť porovnať navzájom a uvediem ich výhody a nevýhody vzhľadom k technike riešenia najdôležitejších funkcií. Poslednou časťou, ktorú spracujem je podrobný popis inštalácie a základných nastavení aplikácie Sonatype Nexus a takisto sa budem snažiť nájsť riešenie na problémové situácie pri migrovaní dát a existujúcich užívateľov z Apache Archiva.Touto bakalářskou prací chci poukázat na velmi používaný nástroj v souvislosti se sestavováním projektů v Javě v komerčním nebo nekomerčním prostředí. Ve druhé části se budu zabývat popisem nejznámějších manažerů Maven úložišť, konkrétně Apache Archiva, Sonatype Nexus, JFrog Artifactory a uvedu jejich funkční možnosti. Těchto manažerů se budu snažit porovnat navzájem a uvedu jejich výhody a nevýhody vzhledem k technice řešení nejdůležitějších funkcí. Poslední částí, kterou zpracuji je podrobný popis instalace a základních nastavení aplikace Sonatype Nexus a také se budu snažit najít řešení problémové situace při migraci dat a stávajících uživatelů z Apache Archiva.In this thesis I would like to describe a tool used for build and categorize projects in Java language for commercial or non-commercial use. The first part is concerned with the tool called Maven that is used either for desktop projects or web projects. The aim is to present the purpose, operation principle and the role which represents the whole life cycle of the project compilation. This includes a description of its advantages and disadvantages of use and in case of use, model his communications with the remote Maven repository manager implemented with and without a repository manager. The second part is dedicated to the description of the most famous Maven repository managers, namely the Apache Archive, Sonatype Nexus and JFrog Artifactory, indicating their functionality. These managers I will try to compare with each other, indicating their advantages and disadvantages with regard to technology solutions to the most important functions. The last part, which can handle a detailed description of the installation and basic configuration of Sonatype Nexus application and also I will try to find solutions to difficult situations in the migrated data and existing users of Apache Archive

    Many companies today have to deal with business processes optimization, ongoing removal of system obstacles and identifying any bottlenecks laying on the way which are preventing us to reach our goals. I would like to show how we have dealt with similar problems in our case applied in the department of web application maintenance. In the first chapter I will introduce the basic information about the history, environment the company operate in and maintenance activities which are part of the process. Following with description all of the system obstacles and bottlenecks identified in the process and possible solutions or improvements for their elimination. In the last chapter I will present the achieved results after my executing of the proposed improvements and if the expectations have been met or not and what positive or negative influence it has brought

    Credibility and Involvement of Social Media in Education—Recommendations for Mitigating the Negative Effects of the Pandemic among High School Students

    In the context of considerations on the potential attenuation of the negative consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic with the use of credible social media in online education during a pandemic, the subject of our own research was the fulfillment of two goals. The main research goals were to identify, categorize, and evaluate the possibilities of using social media in online education during the pandemic from the perspective of selected teachers and students from secondary schools in Slovakia. The research methods of the first phase (qualitative) of the research involved brainstorming among nine secondary school teachers. The second research phase (quantitative) used a questionnaire, which was completed by 102 high school students from all over Slovakia. The collection of both quantitative and qualitative data was used in this research. The research results revealed the most representative opinions of teachers on the current and real possibilities of engaging credible social media in online education and the views of high school students on their desired use and involvement of social media in online education. The intersection of the two findings presents a picture of the possibilities of using credible social media in online education, which can help maintain students’ interest in online education during a pandemic. Based on these findings, it can be stated that the opinions identified in the research group of teachers correspond to a large extent with the desired use of social media in education from the perspective of students. In addition, however, students would welcome more opportunities to use and engage social media in today’s online education. The result of this research is an analysis of social media patterns applied to online education, which are of greater interest to students and could act as elements for reducing the negative consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, i.e., six forms of online education and 24 educational activities that could contribute, inter alia, to mitigating the different negative effects of the pandemic among youth generation. The findings also benefit from the presentation of many specific options and recommendations for the use of social media in online education during a pandemic

    Measurement of charged jet suppression in Pb-Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV

    A measurement of the transverse momentum spectra of jets in Pb-Pb collisions at sNN−−−√=2.76 TeV is reported. Jets are reconstructed from charged particles using the anti-kT jet algorithm with jet resolution parameters R of 0.2 and 0.3 in pseudo-rapidity |η|<0.5. The transverse momentum pT of charged particles is measured down to 0.15 GeV/c which gives access to the low pT fragments of the jet. Jets found in heavy-ion collisions are corrected event-by-event for average background density and on an inclusive basis (via unfolding) for residual background fluctuations and detector effects. A strong suppression of jet production in central events with respect to peripheral events is observed. The suppression is found to be similar to the suppression of charged hadrons, which suggests that substantial energy is radiated at angles larger than the jet resolution parameter R=0.3 considered in the analysis. The fragmentation bias introduced by selecting jets with a high pT leading particle, which rejects jets with a soft fragmentation pattern, has a similar effect on the jet yield for central and peripheral events. The ratio of jet spectra with R=0.2 and R=0.3 is found to be similar in Pb-Pb and simulated PYTHIA pp events, indicating no strong broadening of the radial jet structure in the reconstructed jets with R<0.3.

    Production of charged pions, kaons and protons at large transverse momenta in pp and Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV

    Transverse momentum spectra of π±, K± and p(p¯) up to pT = 20 GeV/c at mid-rapidity in pp, peripheral (60–80%) and central (0–5%) Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV have been measured using the ALICE detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The proton-to-pion and the kaon-to-pion ratios both show a distinct peak at pT ≈ 3 GeV/c in central Pb–Pb collisions. Below the peak, pT 10 GeV/c particle ratios in pp and Pb–Pb collisions are in agreement and the nuclear modification factors for π±, K± and p(p¯) indicate that, within the systematic and statistical uncertainties, the suppression is the same. This suggests that the chemical composition of leading particles from jets in the medium is similar to that of vacuum jets

    ϒ production in p–Pb collisions at √s=8.16 TeV

    ϒ production in p–Pb interactions is studied at the centre-of-mass energy per nucleon–nucleon collision √sNN = 8.16 TeV with the ALICE detector at the CERN LHC. The measurement is performed reconstructing bottomonium resonances via their dimuon decay channel, in the centre-of-mass rapidity intervals 2.03 < ycms < 3.53 and −4.46 < ycms < −2.96, down to zero transverse momentum. In this work, results on the ϒ(1S) production cross section as a function of rapidity and transverse momentum are presented. The corresponding nuclear modification factor shows a suppression of the ϒ(1S) yields with respect to pp collisions, both at forward and backward rapidity. This suppression is stronger in the low transverse momentum region and shows no significant dependence on the centrality of the interactions. Furthermore, the ϒ(2S) nuclear modification factor is evaluated, suggesting a suppression similar to that of the ϒ(1S). A first measurement of the ϒ(3S) has also been performed. Finally, results are compared with previous ALICE measurements in p–Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV and with theoretical calculations.publishedVersio
